Using infrared camera four common mammals were observed in the Tiantoushan Municipal Nature
Reserve: wild boar, leopard cat, masked palm civet, and ferret badger. The MaxEnt model was established
to analyze and predict their habitat suitability. The results indicated that the MaxEnt model provided
high reliability for predicting the habitats of wild boar(Sus scrofa), leopard cat(Prionailurus bengalensi),
and masked palm civet(Paguma larvata), while the prediction for ferret badger(Melogale
moschata) was acceptable. Altitude was the most critical factor influencing the distribution of wild boar,
leopard cat, and masked palm civet, followed by proximity to residential areas. For ferret badger, the
distance to rivers was the primary factor, with altitude being secondary. The suitable habitats for wild
boar, leopard cat, masked palm civet, and ferret badger within the reserve are located in the high-altitude
areas south of Pingkui Road in Pingshan District, covering areas of 11.81、11.75、12.73、and 19.26 km2, respectively. The study recommends the development of conservation management strategies
based on urban nature reserves. |
