| Using data from 185 natural Pinus yunnanensis trees in the Jinsha River Basin, a new one-variable
standing tree volume table was established using two methods: direct modeling and weighted modeling. The
estimation errors of the newly constructed and existing one-variable volume tables were tested and evaluated.
The results showed that the total relative error of the existing model was -8.688 5, with a significant
difference in the F-test, indicating that the current one-variable volume table no longer complies with the
Technical Regulations for the Establishment of One-variable Standing Tree Volume Tables. Among the 10 selected
basic models, the evaluation metrics of direct modeling outperformed those of weighted modeling.
Based on five evaluation criteria, the optimal model was ultimately selected: V=0.00000645932×D(3.618737+(-0.00703737×D)). The new model passed the applicability test. Using the estimated values from the
new one-variable volume model as a basis, the total relative error(TRE) of the old volume model calculated
by diameter class showed that over 90% of diameter classes had deviations exceeding 10%, indicating that the current model is no longer suitable and a new volume model needs to be constructed. |
