| Guangdong Province is rich in small and micro wetland resources, with a total area of wetland
patches below 8 hectares reaching approximately 522 700 hectares, providing a solid foundation and development
potential for small and micro wetland construction. However, technical challenges remain in
areas such as wetland resource identification, construction guidelines, and effectiveness monitoring and evaluation.
To advance the protection and management of small and micro wetlands in Guangdong, enhance
construction efforts and quality, this study analyzes the current status of wetland resources and construction
practices. Recommendations are proposed in wetland resource surveys, construction potential
assessment, construction types, implementation approaches, monitoring and evaluation, and collaborative
mechanisms. These measures aim to fully unlock the comprehensive benefits of small and micro wetlands
and contribute to the ecological development of Green and Beautiful Guangdong. |
